HOW TO:
Move FLEETMATE to a New PC
Overview:
If you have been using FLEETMATE on one PC and need to move it and your
database file to a new PC, you will need to install FLEETMATE on your new PC.
If your database was located on the local disk (C: drive) of your prior PC, you
will also need to copy your prior database file from your prior PC to your new PC.
If your FLEETMATE database file is stored on a file server, you do not need to
copy your database file. Follow the steps below.
On your CURRENT PC:
-
Start FLEETMATE and note the database
filename and path displayed in the titlebar at the top of the main window.
You will need this for step #4 below.
-
Click Help | About... and note your 16-digit registration key.
-
Close FLEETMATE.
-
Unless your database file is located on a server, copy your
database file (.fdb) from your old PC, using the path you noted in step #1, to removable media (e.g.
CD-R/RW, USB Drive, etc.).
On your NEW PC:
-
Download and install FLEETMATE
on your new PC using the default settings.
-
Unless your
database file is located on a server, copy your database file (e.g.
FLEETMATE.fdb) from your removable media to the "C:\Users\Public\FLEETMATE"
folder on your new PC.
-
Start FLEETMATE.
-
Enter your Company Name and Registration key, and click OK.
If your database name was something other than "FLEETMATE.fdb", and/or
if your database file is located on a server, you will need to use the File
| Database | Open... menu function to open the database.
